I am a movement coach who specializes in weight training and both the Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® method.
A well designed weight training workout will give you these benefits: weight loss, muscle gain, improved posture, toning, more energy, better stamina, restful sleep, confidence, happiness, mobility, balance and ultimately increase your chance of living longer. I can help you work towards attaining all of these by creating the most efficient routine for you.
These movement systems, developed by Juliu Horvath, have helped people across the globe understand their bodies on deep, intrinsic level. While many exercise modalities pull movement inward the Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® methods are all about strength through expansion. It is a perfect complement to weight training—the yin to the yang if you will. Benefits include: opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motions, improving strength, and movement efficiency. I am certified to teach on one of the specialized equipments called the "Archway”. It is essentially a curved ladder and builds core body strength unlike anything else through climbing, hanging, swinging, and suspension. For more information, please visit Gyrotonic.com.
When training with me you will have the comfort, convenience, and safety of working out in your own home, or gym, via Zoom.
The first session will consist of a fitness evaluation. We will look at your physical history and discuss your goals in order to determine the optimal path for your next level of fitness.
From there begins this exciting new journey! Not only will you be working towards a healthier you but also discovering your body through movement. At the start of each session we will check in to see how your body is feeling. If the day was particularly stressful or there is an ache, our workout will address these concerns.
Every few weeks we will also check in to see how your program is progressing. Are your goals going to be met? Or do we need to modify things a bit? Communication between us is very important and I strongly believe in keeping progress assessment as an open dialogue.
I was a professional dancer with Ballet Chicago and Misnomer Dance theater. Having a dance background gives me a unique understanding of anatomy and kinesiology. My BFA in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design gives me an excellent eye for form and also a creative approach to your program design.
I have been a personal trainer since 2003, and am certified through the American Council for Sports Medicine (ACSM). I am also a certified GYROKINESIS® Trainer and specialized equipment GYROTONIC® Trainer.
I taught flying trapeze for 7 years at the Trapeze School New York (you may have seen us over by the West Side highway at Houston Street.) I became interested in flying trapeze wanting to challenge my body and nerves. After 10 weeks as a student I was hired on as a teacher. One of the many things I love about trapeze is the specificity of skills needed and incredibly high level of fitness required.
For a decade I worked closely with the chiropractic offices of Dr. Louis P. Savas D.C. and Nestor Savas, LMT. They taught me how to look at the body from a skeletal perspective. It gave me experience in injury prevention and injury rehabilitation.
